Cins
PainterCins is one of the artists who interpreted the theme ‘Resonate' within HOOD Base x KAFT collaboration, and is our guest of this interview series, focusing on the production practices of artists from different fields.
When I think of the times I’m working, even though I work with different mediums and contents I spend most of my time painting. So it would be more accurate to say I’m a painter.
Right now, it’s my workshop. I love working on new sketches and drafts in quiet environments during holidays.
From time to time, I experience this. It’s really annoying but now I know I need a break. I try to do completely different things, maybe do some chores. Setting the workshop in order, tossing out unnecessary stuff, organizing colors and paints… It’s good to clear your mind a little.
I think my process has several phases. First phase is building the structure of the painting and sketching. Unless I’m working towards a certain theme -which I don’t prefer often- my creative process is completely open to coincidences. And in the process of transferring to canvas or painting, only the colors and some textures are open for surprises. I usually finalize my paintings by sticking to my first sketches.
It’s a hard one but if I try to create a list that matches this work from what I’ve been listening to recently, these 3 songs would be:
PFM - The Western (Mikes Ricochet Mix)
Squarepusher - Welcome to Europe
Bungle - Moving Pages
I believe it should be a quiet, calm, natural environment. But as a person living in the city, it’s not easy to make time for it. We try to pick such quiet places for holidays, where we can see the stars much more easily at night.
